Designed and built as a television console for my own apartment, this piece brings together several of my current design obsessions. Inspired by the balance of yin and yang, the dark-stained sides and recessed top contrast with the warmth and lightness of the natural wood front.
The reeded glass adds another layer of texture, while the tapered, angled legs are a nod to my growing fascination with 1950s and 1960s furniture design. I love the way these elements give the piece a sense of history while keeping the overall form clean and contemporary.
For me, furniture is an opportunity to experiment; to combine materials, eras and ideas until something unexpected feels right. This console is one expression of that process, and a direction I hope to explore much further in future pieces.
